We are excited to be co-sponsoring the CityGrid Los Angeles Hackathon taking place this weekend in Santa Monica, California, organised by Kin Lane, the API Evangelist. The Hackathon will bring together commercial and civic hackers to build the next generation of apps we’ll use in our everyday local lives. We are offering hackers at the event our journey planning software-as-a-service solution to allow them easy access to local public transit information, such as transit stop locations, departure times, lines of route and trip plans, in order to help build applications, data visualizations and other creative innovations that will help define the future of local.
There is a $5,000 first prize up for grabs to the most innovative locally focused mobile or web app built during the weekend, together with a $2,500 second prize, and a $1,000 third prize.
This Hackathon is the first of 9 local Hacakthons in different cities including Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, NYC, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Austin. Check back here to find out how it went and for details about future events.
